The affected products include 20-lb. cases of “Marinated Boneless Beef Tender Tip” bearing case code “SM04291” and establishment number “Est. 5697” inside the USDA mark of inspection. The beef products were produced on various dates from Feb. 26 through Aug. 26.
FSIS discovered the problem during routine inspection activities. The products were formulated using soybean oil monosodium glutamate and papain, a meat tenderizer. Soy is a known allergen, FSIS noted, and MSG may cause allergy-type reaction in individuals who may have sensitivity to it.
The items were shipped to restaurants in Minneapolis and St. Paul, FSIS said. The agency and the company have received no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products.
