ST. LOUIS – Tim Schellpeper, who formerly served as president and COO of Farmland Inc., a unit of Smithfield Foods, was named CEO of Maschhoff Family Foods effective Sept. 8. He succeeds Jason Logsdon, who is leaving the company to pursue his interests in investing.

Additionally, Dr. Bradley Wolter officially was named president of The Maschhoffs LLC. He will oversee the hog production business. Wolter has been serving on an interim basis since April. Logsdon will join the Maschhoff Family Foods board and continue to counsel the company in strategic business areas. He was named CEO of Maschhoff Family Foods in 2012.

“I truly appreciate the opportunity I’ve had to lead such a tremendous organization,” Logsdon said. “I’m very excited to remain involved in the business while pursuing a long-time personal interest of mine. I will greatly miss the day-to-day leadership of the team, and remain very committed to the success of the organization and the Maschhoff family. I have absolute confidence that Tim will do an outstanding job.”

The company expects no changes in strategy or plans of the business or its hog and chicken operations. Logsdon will spend the next 30 days transitioning out of the role of CEO and working with Chairman Ken Maschhoff, Schellpeper and the executive committee to ensure business continuity and the transfer of critical business knowledge.

“I’ve known Tim for a long time, and believe he is uniquely positioned to lead the organization due to his farming background, more than 30 years of protein industry experience, outstanding character, vast leadership skills, and excellent cultural fit,” Maschhoff said. “Tim is a people person with a strong work ethic and a very active, visible management style. He is known for challenging and developing the people around him.”
