WASHINGTON — Notice 52-09: Ante-Mortem Verification of Livestock Offered for Slaughter by the Establishment has been issued by the Food Safety and Inspection Service.

Effective Aug. 16, this notice provides inspection program personnel with instructions on how to verify and reconcile the number of animals presented for ante-mortem inspection with the number of animals passed for slaughter and then slaughtered.

I.P.P. procedures for performing ante-mortem inspections, determining that livestock at an establishment have received ante-mortem inspections and record-keeping for ante-mortem inspections are also detailed in the notice.
