Kraft Memphis-style hot dog
A Kraft Heinz planned expansion at its Missouri hot dog plant to cost $114 million.

COLUMBIA, Mo. – Kraft Heinz is seeking tax breaks over 10 years for a proposed expansion of its hot dog production facility in Columbia, Mo., the Columbia Tribune reported.

The company plans to invest $114 million in new equipment and infrastructure. The project includes a 25,000-sq.-ft. plant expansion, and three hot dog production lines will be replaced with two, new high-speed lines, according to the report. The company stands to save $4 million in taxes over the 10-year plan. But the upgrades will likely result in the loss of 150 full-time equivalent positions.

The Kraft hot dog plant has operated in Columbia for nearly 30 years. Kraft Heinz operates eight additional facilities capable of making hot dogs.
