WASHINGTON – Shirk’s Meat in Dundee, NY, is recalling 2,478 lbs. of beef and pork snack sticks, hot dogs and other products that may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, the Food Safety and Inspection Service reported.

FSIS said routine sampling uncovered the problem. Shirk’s underwent construction in early April, and in May, FSIS conducted routine sampling for the presence of Lm. Environmental, contact surfaces and ready-to-eat products that were analyzed for sampling tested positive for Lm, and additional sampling by FSIS and the company confirmed the contamination.

The products were produced between April 1 and May 12, FSIS said. The affected items bear the establishment number “EST. 18894” inside the USDA mark of inspection. FSIS said the products were shipped to a various retail locations in New York.
