OAK BROOK, Ill. – McDonald’s Corp. appointed Karen King as the company's executive vice president and chief field officer, the Chicago Tribune reported. King had been McDonald’s chief people officer.

King will have oversight of the company's four US zones which include 14,000 restaurants that generate 40 percent of McDonald’s operating income. She also will oversee franchising and franchise relations.

Earlier this week, McDonald’s tapped former Obama press secretary Robert Gibbs to be executive vice president and global chief communications officer, and Silvia Lagnado as executive vice president and global CMO. Lagnado previously worked for Bacardi Limited.
