Nearly 114 Black Angus breeding cows and 75 calves were stolen from K-Farms in Alamance County, NC. Law enforcement officials believe the animals were taken some time between March and mid-April.
On May 5, the State Bureau of Investigation announced the arrest of James Earl Holliday of Snow Camp, NC. Authorities suspect Holliday took the prized beef cows and replaced them with less-expensive animals. The former contract employee for K-Farms faces charges of embezzlement.
But so far, law enforcement officials have been unable to locate the stolen cattle which are valued at $371,700. To aid the search, Ronald Kilpatrick, owner of K-Farms, increased the reward for the stolen cattle to $20,000.
