WASHINGTON – A West Liberty Foods plant in Tremonton, Utah launched a recall of 34,075 lbs. of grilled chicken breast patties manufactured for Subway restaurants. The recall was the result of consumer complaints of plastic pieces in the chicken, the Food Safety and Inspection Service of the US Department of Agriculture reported.
West Liberty received complaints from consumers who found small pieces of white plastic in their chicken. There have been no reports of injuries or adverse reactions, FSIS said.
The affected products include 25-lb. cardboard boxes containing five 5lb. plastic bags of “SUBWAY FULLY COOKED GRILLED CHICKEN BREAST PATTY WITH RIB MEAT”. FSIS said the grilled chicken patties were produced on Feb. 4 and bear the establishment number “EST. 34349 or P-34349” inside the USDA mark of inspection.
The chicken patties were shipped to restaurants in Illinois, Oklahoma, Minnesota, Nebraska, and Texas. FSIS noted that West Liberty already has contacted the restaurants impacted by the recall.
