ALAMEDA, Calif. – Niman Ranch, which calls itself the leader in sustainable agriculture and humane livestock practices, has increased its line of prepared specialty meats by adding three deli slicing hams: Applewood Smoked Uncured Ham, Smoked Uncured Honey Ham and Smoked Uncured Black Forest Ham.

Applewood Smoked Uncured Ham is slow smoked and seasoned with salt and sugar to enhance the mild and slightly sweet smoke of the wood. Smoked Uncured Honey Ham balances sweet and smoky flavors while honey adds sweetness to the ham, which also is slow-smoked over applewood. Meanwhile, Smoked Uncured Black Forest Ham is seasoned with sugar and spices then slow smoked over hardwood for a light smoke flavor and a signature dark exterior.

All hams are produced from hogs raised by a community of small, independent family hog farmers who adhere to some of the strictest animal-welfare protocols in the industry, including: no antibiotics — ever; no gestation or farrowing crates; raised on pasture or deeply bedded pens; spend their entire lives with their litter mates and natural social groups; and are never fed animal by-products.

"Consumers are looking for meat options they can feel good about eating and serving their families," said Jeff Tripician, chief marketing and sales officer. "Niman Ranch not only delivers on taste but also the commitment to producing products which share their values and beliefs."

The deli hams provide deli buyers with an opportunity to provide their customers with a deli offering that meets consumer demand for higher quality meat with no artificial ingredients or preservatives. Offered as half hams, a reduced size provides delis with reduce waste and shrink.
