GADSDEN, Ala. – A second expansion is in the works for a Koch Foods poultry processing plant in Gadsden, Ala., according to local news reports.

On March 24, the Gadsden City Council approved non-education tax abatements for Koch, which plans to invest $7.5 million in its chicken-processing plant in East Gadsden. Park Ridge, Ill.-based Koch Foods, which announced plans to add 80 jobs last October, will be creating 70 more jobs — adding $1.89 million to Koch's payroll.

Including the added jobs, the company currently employs 585. The new jobs are for producing value-added products. Last year, Koch announced plans to invest $6 million in the plant, which it bought from Tyson in 2007. It hoped its expansion would be finished by January.
