OREGON CITY, Ore. — Interstate Meat Distributors (IMD) is being sued for $5 million by the family of Hugo Avalos-Chanon, 41, who was killed while cleaning an industrial meat blender at a Clackamas plant, reportsThe Associated Press. Filed last week in Clackamas County Circuit Court, the lawsuit accused the company of failing to follow safety procedures.


In April 2013, Avalos-Chanon of Portland was working for a cleaning contractor when the machine turned on and he was pulled into the equipment legs first.

IMD is a grinder and packager of hamburger for commercial customers located in Oregon and southwest Washington.
