WASHINGTON – Turkey eggs in incubators reported on Dec. 1 climbed higher compared to November, but was sharply lower compared to a year ago, the National Agricultural Statistics Service of the US Dept. of Agriculture reported.

Turkey eggs in incubators on Dec. 1 totaled 25.6 million, up 2 percent from the Nov. 1 total of 25.1 percent, but down 12 percent compared to a year ago.


Turkey poults hatched in November declined 4 percent from a year ago to 21.1 million. Poults hatched climbed 2 percent higher than the October total of 20.6 million poults.

Net poults placed during November advanced 2 percent from last year. NASS reported 20.9 million net poults were placed during the month. Net placements for November were 3 percent higher than the October total of 20.2 million.
