ABERDEEN, SD – Operating from the former Northern Beef Packers Plant, which cost $108 million to build before closing after just seven months of processing on a limited basis, New Angus LLC is now slaughtering up to 100 head of cattle per day at the plant, the Associated Press reported. The Aberdeen, SD, processor is owned by White Oak Global Advisors, a San Francisco-based investment firm that bought the troubled operation out of bankruptcy for $44.3 million in 2013.

AP reported the 420,000 sq.-ft. plant initially processed 25 head per day but has the daily capacity to process 1,500 head. The beef was packaged under the DemKota Ranch Beef brand. The company was conducting small processing runs to test systems and train employees, according to AP.
