TUCKER, Ga. – The US Poultry & Egg Association (USPOULTRY) is offering poultry transporters and catch crews a “train the trainer” workshop on poultry handling and transportation Jan. 27, 2016. The program provides certification training.

A team of poultry scientists and veterinarians from Pennsylvania State Univ., the US Dept. of Agriculture and transportation industry professionals developed the Poultry Handling and Transportation (PHT) program, which USPOULTRY currently manages. Attendees will also develop tools to help train non-English speaking employees.

In conjunction with the handling and transportation workshop, USPOULTRY is offering a combined certification and “Train the Trainer” workshop designed for those individuals wanting to become PHT certified trainers. There are additional prerequisites for becoming a PHT certified trainer, in addition to attending the workshop and passing the certification exam. The requirements are listed on theUSPOULTRY website.

The workshop is limited to 30 participants, and registration is $250 for all registered International Production & Processing Expo (IPPE) attendees. IPPE is expected to attract more than 28,000 attendees. It is a collaboration of three trade shows — International Feed Expo, International Poultry Expo and International Meat Expo.
