Misbranding, HACCP plan problems prompt action.

WASHINGTON – Colorado Springs-based Good Food Concepts launched a recall of approximately 12,566 lbs. of beef, pork and poultry products because the company’s Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points plan was not fully implemented, the Food Safety and Inspection Service of the US Dept. of Agriculture reported. Additionally, the products contain sodium nitrite which was not declared on the product label.

FSIS discovered the problem during a food safety assessment at the facility. There have been no reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of the affected products, the agency added. The affected products include bratwurst, deli meats, hot dogs, bacon, ham and other items.

The products bear the establishment number “EST. 27316” inside the USDA mark of inspection. These items were shipped to retail locations in Colorado and New Mexico. The items were produced on various dates between Oct. 16, 2014, and Oct. 16, 2015. A full product list is available on the FSIS website.
