BUFFALO, NY – Springdale, Ark.-based Tyson Foods Inc. is selling its plant in Buffalo, NY, a company spokesman confirmed to MEATPOULTRY.com. The facility produced hot dogs, sausage and hams.

The Buffalo plant officially closed Jan. 3 affecting 300 workers. The plant is among three facilities the company decided to close. Tyson's Cherokee, Iowa, plant closed Sept. 27, 2014, while the company's Santa Teresa, NM, plant is expected to close at the end of the month. Next steps for the property are still being finalized, the spokesman said.

Tyson announced the plant closures in July 2014. At the time, the company said the distance between Midwest raw material suppliers and the Buffalo and Santa Teresa plants was a contributing factor in the company's decision to shutter those facilities.
