RICHMOND, Va. – Dr. Brad Morgan, president of the American Meat Science Association, was named senior director of protein at Performance Food Group (PFG), Richmond, Va. PFG is a group of leading foodservice distributors that includes Performance Foodservice, Vistar and PFG Customized Distribution.

Before joining PFG, Morgan was director of beef operations at Zoetis Corp., the animal health business of Pfizer Inc. A 20-year veteran of the meat industry, he began his career as a professor of animal science at several universities, including the Univ. of Nebraska, Colorado State Univ. and Oklahoma State Univ. He is widely published and recognized as an expert in animal science.


Morgan has bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Oklahoma State Univ. and the Univ. of Nebraska, respectively. He earned his Ph.D. from Texas A&M Univ. During his university career, he obtained more than $12.5 million in research support while conducting research in 27 countries.

Morgan will retain his position as president of AMSA.
