BROOKS, Alberta – A 43-year-old man who suffered severe burns from a steam blast while working at a JBS Canada plant in mid-August, died Sept. 29.

The unidentified man was injured when a pipe cap was removed so that the worker could clear a blocked pipe when steam and water was released from the opening, severely burning the man. The worker was taken to a local hospital before being transferred to the burn unit at the Foothills Medical Centre in Calgary where he died.


JBS USA, parent company of JBS Canada, said the man had worked for the company for more than 19 years.
