WASHINGTON – A Foster Farms plant in Farmerville, La., is recalling 39,747 lbs. of frozen, pre-cooked chicken-breast strips due to possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination, the Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) reported.

The company discovered the problem during a routine in-plant inspection, according to FSIS. Some of the product was set aside and held, but product subject to the recall was inadvertently shipped. There have been no reports of illness associated with the product, the agency noted.

The frozen Chicken Breast Grilled Strips product was produced on Aug. 5 and then shipped to retail warehouse locations in California, Texas, Utah and Washington state. Product subject to the recall includes 3.5-lb. plastic re-sealable bags containing frozen “Chicken Breast Grilled Strips.”

FSIS said the products packaging will bear the establishment number “P-33901” as well as a Best by Date of 08-05-15.
