GARNER, NC – Butterball, LLC promoted Dr. Alice Johnson to senior vice president of food safety, animal care and government relations. She will continue to manage the company's food safety and quality programs while serving as a Butterball liaison in Washington.

Dr. Johnson joined Butterball as vice president of food safety, government regulatory and public relations. In 2011, she assumed additional responsibilities for animal care and well-being. During her tenure at Butterball, Dr. Johnson founded and leads the company's independent Animal Care and Well-Being Advisory Council, which is comprised of some of the world’s leading animal care experts.

Before joining Butterball, Dr. Johnson was president and CEO of the National Turkey Federation. She also held multiple leadership positions with the National Food Processors Association, the American Meat Institute and US Department of Agriculture. Dr. Johnson has a bachelor’s degree in biology from Pfeiffer College and a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Tuskegee Institute.
