The 2014 Animal Care and Handling Conference covers the ABC's of animal handling and meat industry trends.

WASHINGTON – The Animal Care and Handling Conference was developed for anyone involved in the production and management of livestock and meat production. The 2014 conference will be held Oct. 16-17 in Kansas City, Mo.

The event, sponsored by AMI and AMI Foundation, is an educational opportunity for meat-industry professionals to become knowledgeable about strategies for managing changing consumer expectations on animal welfare and handling. Attendees can attend species-specific workshops featuring leading meat industry experts and general sessions covering regulatory issues and meat industry trends.

The conference also includes a pre-conference workshop for retail and restaurant customers and their suppliers. The Animal Welfare and Livestock Issues Customer Briefing is a closed-door session is a roundtable briefing of key animal-welfare issues affecting the meat industry and how those issues affect business. The pre-conference session is scheduled for Oct. 15.
