WAYNE, WV – Ballard's Farm Sausage went up in flames after a fire spread from an office in the facility.

No one was injured, but the facility was fully engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived at the scene 20 minutes after an employee called 911 dispatchers, according to news reports.


Ballard's Farm Sausage has been in business for 68 years. Carlos Ballard founded the company in 1946 on his farm in West Virginia, according to the company's website. Today, third-generation president and CEO David Ballard leads the family business.

Ballard's produces fresh sausage, lunch meats, bacon, pepperoni, corndogs and other products. The company's private-label sausages and salads are sold at leading grocery stores such as Kroger and Winn-Dixie in addition to other distributors.
