WASHINGTON – Sara Lee Foodservice, a Hillshire Brands subsidiary based in New London, Wis., recalled 82,440 lbs. of smoked sausage because hydrolyzed soy protein, an allergen, was not declared on the product labels, the Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) reported.

The company discovered the error during a routine label review. There have been no reports of adverse reactions caused by the sausage.

The product subject to the recall includes cases of "Smoked Sausage Rope" in 10-lb. cases containing two 5-lb. packages bearing case code SKU 46218.

The sausage was produced from Jan. 1 through June 6 and was sent to distribution centers for shipment to institutional customers across the United States, according to FSIS. The product is not available at grocery stores or sold directly to consumers.
