CHICAGO – Tallgrass Beef Company has launched its first grass-fed, grass-finished beef frank.

The company, owned by television personality Bill Kurtis, touted the frank as a healthy product for consumers. The franks are made from beef cattle that are never fed hormones or antibiotics. The cattle lives in open pastures and are never fed corn or grain. Tallgrass Beef guarantees its product to be GMO and gluten-free.

“I’ve always wanted to produce the healthiest hot dog in the world. What I didn’t expect was that it is also the tastiest,” Kurtis said. “This hot dog is the start of a revolution to get healthy meat on American tables.”

Tallgrass Beef is supporting the launch with a recipe contest on its Facebook page. Participants are invited to submit their healthiest and most delicious hot dog recipes. Chicago celebrity chefs Sarah Stegner and George Bumbaris of Prairie Grass Café will prepare and taste the top five shared recipes to select a Chicago Healthy Hot Dog Champion. The grand prize winner will receive the “Bill at the Grill” experience where Bill Kurtis will grill for a party of 20 at their home. Contest rules are on Tallgrass Beef Company’s Facebook page.

“I’ve been working to establish the grass-fed beef market for eight years. I think our Tallgrass Beef Frank will be the breakthrough, a gateway product that achieves full grass-fed health benefits plus a flavorful tasting experience,” Kurtis added.
