MINNEAPOLIS – Cargill has signed a non-exclusive agreement with Branhaven LLC to license BeefTek, Inc. genetics analysis tools to improve meat and milk production. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Cargill said the BeefGen diagnostic tools may help cattle producers identify genetically superior animals for breeding purposes.

“Cargill believes that for beef cattle producers, these genetic tools help identify animals best suited to optimize weight gain, beef marbling, tenderness, red meat yield, rib eye quality and other important characteristics that could increase the value and yield from each animal harvested,” the company said in a statement.
