7-Eleven stores in Texas now offer kolaches as part of the chain's hot-foods program. The portable hot-breakfast item is available in Pork and Beef Sausage and Pork and Beef Sausage with Jalapeno and Cheddar.

DALLAS – 7-Eleven has added kolaches to its hot-food program at participating stores in Texas. Kolaches are similar to a "pig in a blanket," according to the company.

Convenience stores will offer two varieties of kolaches, pork and beef sausage and pork and beef sausage with jalapeno and cheddar. The suggested retail price for one 4-oz. kolache is $1.69, or two for $3. 7-Eleven noted that the pastry has grown in popularity in Texas because it has one of the largest Czechoslovakian-American populations in the United States.

"Kolaches are so popular in Texas, and this new item gives our customers another portable, hot breakfast choice," said Kelly Buckley, 7-Eleven vice president of Fresh Food Innovation. "One challenge was to make sure the kolache remains tender. We worked on several iterations to ensure the dough was soft, tender and light."
