DOTHAN, Ala. – More than 500 workers will be laid off from a Wayne Farms processing facility in Dothan, Ala., according to local news reports.

Wayne Farms LLC entered a long-term supplier agreement with AlaTrade Foods, Inc. to supply all poultry to the Dothan plant. The agreement eliminates the company's need for deboning lines. Approximately 560 workers will be impacted. Wayne Farms expects to complete the layoffs by June 8.


AlaTrade operates thee poultry processing plants in Boaz, Albertville and Phenix City, Alabama, according to the company's website. The processor offers deboning services in addition to portioning for breast meat and tenders. The company provides processing and value-added services for national and regional customers.
