DES MOINES – Premises Identification Numbers (PINs) will be required of pork producers who wish to continue receiving free laboratory testing of samples in cases of suspected Swine Enteric Coronavirus Disease (SECD), including porcine epidemic diarrhea virus (PEDv).

The Pork Checkoff is reminding producers about the upcoming requirement that all submissions be accompanied by a valid PIN starting Dec. 15. USDA will pay for diagnostic testing to support the initial diagnosis of PEDv and porcine deltacoronavirus (PDCoV) in swine herds. Samples submitted for PEDV and PDCoV PCR testing that are eligible for reimbursement include:

• Intestines
• Feces
• Fecal Swabs
• Oral Fluids
• Environmental Samples (specifically associated with a farm site and live pigs)

Samples not eligible for reimbursement include truck washes, trucks, trailers, other transport vehicles, feed, feed mills, and other non-farm site samples including those submitted for research purposes.
