OAKLAND, Calif. – Two members of the North American Meat Association's Oakland, Calif., staff are stepping away as a result of NAMA merging with the American Meat Institute, which will become official in 2015.

Jen Kempis, operations manager, is joining the American Meat Science Association. Kempis joined the Oakland staff in 1994 and served in successive positions with NAMA.

Jeremy Russell, director of communications and government relations, will join the Jewish Community Relations Council in San Francisco. Russell joined the National Meat Association staff in 1997. He is credited with bringing timely and relevant news to NAMA members via Lean Trimmings. He also managed the Washington Leaders Conference.

"The Oakland office will continue to be the primary location for the Regulatory Services Staff, headed by Norm Robertson, with Ken Mastracchio and Andrea Perkins," NAMA said in a statement. "Director Emeritus Rosemary Mucklow will also continue to work out of Oakland."
