MARTINSVILLE, Va. – Monogram Foods, one of the largest meat snack manufacturers in the United States, plans to move forward on a major expansion at its Martinsville, Va. production facility, which is expected to create 200 new jobs by 2016 and add $5 million to the existing annual payroll. The 54,000 sq. ft. expansion is anticipated to cost $36.5 million.

This expansion will be funded, in part, by a $400,000 grant from the Governor’s Opportunity Fund and $835,000 from The Virginia Tobacco Indemnification and Community Revitalization Commission. Since being purchased in 2009, the Martinsville plant has undergone three plant expansions and tripled its employment roster.

“The workforce in Martinsville is outstanding and that’s a key reason why we continue to grow our food-manufacturing operations here,” said Karl Schledwitz, chairman and chief executive officer of Monogram Foods. “We love our Martinsville workforce. They are committed to product quality, people safety and excellent customer service.”
