VISBEK, Germany – Weisenhof, the largest German poultry processor, confirmed the company is switching to GMO-free animal feed by Jan. 1, according to news reports.

The change comes in response to demands from the German Poultry Association and retailers, which said they will require GMO-free feed in all protein segments, including dairy, pork and beef.

In Germany, Wiesenhoff operates six hatcheries, 11 abattoirs and processing plants and a poultry sausage production plant. The company's operations in Poland include a hatchery, two abattoirs and a poultry sausage plant.
