Burger King has ended its limited-time offering for chicken nuggets.

MIAMI – Burger King Worldwide Inc. pulled the plug on its 15-cents per chicken nugget offering after the company ran low on supplies, according to news reports.

In October, the No. 2 fast-food burger chain began offering its 10-piece Chicken Nuggets for $1.49. The company now says it plans to reinstate the old price of $2.99. The limited-time offering was Burger King's strategy to compete on price with fast-food rivals such as McDonald's.

“With the growing consumer demand for chicken menu items, we wanted to offer our guests an aggressive deal rivaling anything our competition has ever done,” said Eric Hirschhorn, chief marketing officer, North America, Burger King Corporation.
