A routine label review by FSIS personnel uncovered the problem. Inspectors found that a releasing agent used on contact surfaces during production included soy lecithin, which is a known allergen that was not declared on the product label, FSIS said. Approximately 1,196,669 lbs. of frozen pretzel dogs are affected by the recall.
City Line manufactured the pretzel dogs on various dates between Feb. 14 to Nov. 14, the agency noted. Affected products include Auntie Anne’s All Beef Classic Pretzel Dogs, Auntie Anne’s Fundraising Pretzel Dogs, West Creek Black Angus Beef Pretzel Dogs, Kunzler Pretzel Dogs, Kunzler Turkey Pretzel Dogs, Berks All Beef Pretzel Franks, Nathan’s Famous Pretzel Dogs and City Line Foods Pretzel Dogs.
Products subject to recall bear the establishment number “EST. or P-34073” inside the USDA mark of inspection. FSIS said the pretzel dogs were shipped nationwide for retail distribution and fundraising. FSIS emphasized that the recall does not affect Auntie Anne's pretzel stores found in shopping malls, airports and other venues.
