BIDWELL, Ohio – Tri-State Beef Inc. has chosen an industrial park in Bidwell, Ohio, as the site of a new beef-processing plant.

Dan Evans Industrial Park will be the site of the $30 million facility, which will support beef slaughter, packaging and advanced processing operations. Company officials expect to break ground sometime in 2015. Tri-State expects to create 250 new jobs.

“This is great news for our community. Tri-State Beef is a quality operation and we are ecstatic they have chosen Bidwell for their new US operation,” Harold Montgomery, Gallia County Commissioner, said in a statement. “The establishment of this new facility will have a tremendous positive impact not only in Gallia County, but the entire Southern Ohio region.”

Cincinnati-based Tri-State Beef is a subsidiary of Dae Kyung Oil and Transportation Co. Ltd. The processor said the new facility could generate an estimated $6.9 million in additional annual payroll by December 2018.

“The announcement of the new packing plant facility in Gallia County is tremendous news for Ohio's beef industry,” Elizabeth Harsh, executive director, Ohio Cattlemen’s Association, said in a statement. “For over 25 years there have been many well-intentioned, but unsuccessful attempts to establish a packing facility in the state. This news is certainly welcome and beneficial to beef producers and all of Ohio.”
