An FSIS inspector discovered the problem, the agency said. The company sprayed a releasing agent of vegetable and canola oil on a conveyor belt. The releasing agent contains soy lecithin, a known allergen, FSIS noted. The agency determined that Shop Packaging has been using the spray since Aug. 8. To date, there have been no reports of adverse reactions related to the chicken wings.
The chicken wings were produced on various dates between Aug. 8 and Oct. 10, FSIS said. The affected products include 20 lb. bags containing "Chicken Mid-Joint Wing". The products bear the establishment number “P-46946” inside the USDA mark of inspection. The chicken wings were shipped to a distribution location in New York.
