RANTOUL, Ill. - Rantoul Foods plans to build a 48,000-sq.-ft. expansion on the northwest side of the facility's property, the Rantoul Pressreported.

The latest expansion will be the second since the plant re-opened in 2011. Earlier construction included five additional loading docks, a shipping office and a cooling unit, according to the
Rantoul Press.

Rantoul Foods and Trim-Rite Foods are sister companies with customers in the retail, foodservice, further-processing and export markets with fresh and frozen pork products. Meadowbrook Farms originally opened the Rantoul, Ill., plant in 2004, but closed it in 2009 due to financial reasons. In 2011, Trim-Rite Food Corp., Carpentersville, Ill., re-opened the plant.
