LIBERAL, Kan. – A 25-year-old man has died from injuries sustained in an altercation at a National Beef processing plant in Liberal, according to news reports.

The incident occurred Oct. 10. In a statement, National Beef said the altercation occurred in a locker room at the processing facility. The company said the employee was taken to a local hospital and then to a hospital in Wichita, Kan. Police later identified the employee as Abdukadir Mohamed Dahir.


Preliminary autopsy findings stated the cause of death was from blunt force head trauma, according to the Sedgwick County Regional Forensic Science Center.

“The local police have been in contact with the other employee who was involved in this altercation and he has been relieved of his duties,” the company said. “This was a tragic situation and we have extended our deepest sympathies to the employee's family.”

The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
