SPRINGDALE, ARK. — Tyson Foods, Inc., the largest supplier of pizza toppings and pepperoni to the foodservice segment, has acquired Bosco’s Pizza Co., Warren, Mich. Terms of the agreement were not announced.

With one manufacturing plant, Bosco’s is a maker of partially baked frozen pizza made with traditional and whole grain crusts, pizza sticks that feature a variety of fillings and pizza sauces. Its core customers are retailers and foodservice operators in the Midwest in addition to some national retail operations.


“This is part of our company’s strategic plan to grow our domestic prepared foods business,” said Donnie King, Tyson Foods’ president of prepared foods, customer and consumer solutions. “Bosco’s will be a good addition to our diversified portfolio of quality food offerings.”

Bosco’s Pizza employs approximately 150 workers. The pizza company will become a part of Tyson Foods’ Prepared Foods division, but will continue to operate under the Bosco’s Pizza Co. name, according to Tyson officials. Craig Mulhinch, vice president of Bosco’s sales and marketing, and Paul Morgan, vice president of Bosco's operations, will continue to manage the company’s day-to-day operations.
