WASHINGTON – Petaluma, Calif.-based Rancho Feeding Corporation expanded its recall to include 420 lbs. of beef products that were produced without federal inspection, the US Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service reported.

The product subject to the expanded recall includes 30-lb. boxes of “Book Tripe”, FSIS said. The product bears the establishment number "EST. 527" inside the USDA mark of inspection. Each box bears the case code number “ON9O4.” The recalled beef product was produced Jan. 8 and shipped to distribution centers and retail firms in California, according to FSIS.

So far, there have been no reports of illness due to consumption of the products. The recall is the result of an ongoing investigation, FSIS noted. The agency believes Rancho Feeding has been producing product without full ante-mortem inspection.
