KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Some foodservice operators don't seem to be beating the heat. Instead, savory flavors are on the menu for summer entrees.

Among the four new sandwiches on Applebee’s menu is the Kickin’ Turkey Stacker which features a sriracha chile lime sauce.

Meanwhile Jack in the Box is highlighting the world's most traded spice — black peppercorns — using its Black Pepper Cheeseburger. The burger features peppercorn mayonnaise and black pepper cheese.

Popeyes added the Smoky Garlic Chile Chicken entree which features chicken marinated in a blend of slow-smoked chile peppers, garlic and sea salt.
