Dec. 1 corn stocks decline 17% from 2011

WASHINGTON — The following are key numbers from the US Department of Agriculture Grain Stocks annual Crop Production and World Agricultural Supply and Demand Estimates released on Jan. 11.

Dec. 1, 2012, corn stocks: 8,030 million bushels; average trade pre-estimate: 8,210 million bushels; Dec. 1, 2011, corn stocks: 9,647 million bushels.

Dec. 1, 2012, soybean stocks: 1,966 million bushels; average trade pre-estimate: 1,984 million bushels; Dec. 1, 2011, soybean stocks: 2,370 million bushels.

2012 US corn production: 10,780 million bushels; average trade pre-estimate: 10,626 million bushels; November 2012 estimate: 10,725 million bushels; final 2011 corn production: 12,360 million bushels.

2012 US average corn yield: 123.4 bushels an acre; average trade pre-estimate: 122.4 bushels an acre; November 2012 estimate: 122.3 bushels an acre; final 2011 corn yield: 147.2 bushels an acre.

2012 US soybean production: 3,015 million bushels; average trade pre-estimate: 2,999 million bushels; November 2012 estimate: 2,971 million bushels; final 2011 soybean production: 3,094 million bushels.

2012 US soybean yield: 39.6 bushels an acre; average trade pre-estimate: 39.6 bushels an acre; November 2012 estimate: 39.3 bushels an acre; final 2011 soybean yield: 41.9 bushels an acre.

US corn carryover on Sept. 1, 2013: 602 million bushels; average trade pre-estimate: 667 million bushels; December USDA carryover projection: 647 million bushels; carryover on Sept. 1, 2012, was 989 million bushels.

US soybean carryover on Sept. 1, 2013: 135 million bushels; average trade pre-estimate: 135 million bushels; December USDA carryover projection: 130 million bushels; carryover on Sept. 1, 2012, was 169 million bushels.
