CELAYA, Mexico – Industrias Bachoco SAB de CV recently acquired the assets of the La Perla pet food company based in the Mexican state of Queretaro. Details of the transaction were not disclosed.
The deal includes La Perla’s brands: CanPro, Choice Nutrition and Cat-trina among others. La Perla has the capacity to produce more than 65,000 tons of dry pet food per year. The company also has a facility for manufacturing pet treats.

“With this acquisition, we are increasing significantly our pet food capacity, a product line in which we have had satisfactory results so far, and in which we see an interesting future,” CEO Rodolfo Ramos said in a statement. “Furthermore, this acquisition will allow us to enter into the pet food treats market, a growing sector in this business line.

“We will look to integrate this operation, as soon as possible, into our normal operations and capture the opportunities we have identified.”

Bachoco expects to close the transaction soon, through its subsidiary Campi Alimentos SA de CV. Industrias Bachoco is Mexico’s leading producer and processor of poultry and other food products.
