SIAL China 2016 exceeds expectations

SIAL China was held in Shanghai from May 5-7.
SHANGHAI – The official numbers are in and show organizers of SIAL China, the largest food and beverage trade show in Asia, are ready to call the 17th edition of the show a success. The three-day trade show, which was held at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre May 5-7, exceeded expectations.
Final calculations recorded 2,942 exhibitors in attendance at the show, up 7.6 percent from the 2,734 exhibitors in 2015. The exhibitors from 67 countries (61 countries exhibited in 2015) showcased the latest products and food trends from around the world in 126,500 sq. m. (1.35 million sq. ft.) of exhibit space in 11 halls. The show also had record attendance with 76,986 visitors (up 25.6 percent from the 61,296 attendees in 2015).
SIAL China 2016 attracted professionals from retail, hotel/restaurant/catering (HoReCa), foodservices, the import/export trade and manufacturing segments to Shanghai. More than 20 product sectors were represented on the trade show floor including fresh meat and offals, fresh poultry and game, cured and salted meat, dairy products and eggs, delicatessen and home meal replacement, frozen products, as well as equipment, technologies and contract processing.
Each year a country is chosen as the guest country of honor at the trade show – Poland was featured at the 2016 event. As part of the honor, Polish companies and products were highlighted around the tradeshow floor and at various SIAL China events including the After SIAL party.
The 2017 event will be held on May 18-20, 2017, again at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre. Show organizers are expecting 80,000 visitors and 3,200 exhibitors. The plan is to feature 150,000 sq. m. (1.6 million sq. ft.) of exhibit space in 14 halls at the 2017 show.
As the largest food and beverage show in Asia, SIAL China is part of the SIAL Network. The global network of shows features seven trade shows around the world (SIAL Paris, SIAL Canada, SIAL China, SIAL Middle East, SIAL ASEAN Manila and SIAL InterFOOD in Jakarta).
