OTTAWA, Ontario – A positive test for Listeria monocytogenes prompted a recall of ready-to-eat meat products made by Franz Roessel Holdings Ltd., the Canadian Food Inspection Agency reported.

The company recalled Franz's brand Smoked Black Bean & Salsa Sausage and Gold Medal Kolbossa after CFIA tests confirmed the presence of Lm in the products. Both products were packed on Dec. 6. Additional products may be recalled as CFIA conducts its investigation, the agency said. As part of its investigation, CFIA is verifying that retailers are removing affected products from the marketplace.
