2 Sisters pass food-safety audit

ANGLESEY, Wales – A British poultry processor passed a food-safety audit launched in response to a news report about food-safety lapses at two of the company's facilities.
Two poultry plants belonging to 2 Sisters Food Group received "Good" and "Generally Satisfactory" ratings from the Food Standards Agency (FSA). The FSA launched a detailed investigation into the plants in Scunthorpe and Llangefni following a new report by The Guardian
newspaper alleging food-safety lapses. The report targeted Faccenda Foods and 2 Sisters Food Group, two of the largest UK poultry processors. Both companies vigorously denied any wrongdoing.
“We welcomed these audits and we are pleased the FSA has worked with typical rigor and thoroughness,” Ranjit Singh, CEO of 2 Sisters, said in a statement. “We are satisfied with their findings, which show that no legislative compliance issues were raised.
“However, we must not be complacent. We operate our business in an environment of continual improvement and we will be carrying on with that to ensure we produce first-class British products for all of our customers,” he added. “We will continue to be at the forefront of our sector by investing in our sites and leading from the front in tackling key challenges to our industry like Campylobacter
FSA said the agency was following up on The Guardian’s evidence by reviewing video footage and photographs of three specific incidents at the plants and checking those incidents against the agency's own records. The detailed audits of the two plants occurred July 25, and the agency expects to release its findings “in due course.”
