Cargill to upgrade facility in Thailand

SARABURI, Thailand – Cargill will spend $10 million to upgrade a poultry processing facility in Saraburi, Thailand.

Planned upgrades include food-safety improvements, installing more efficient equipment and expanding cold storage facilities. The Saraburi facility produces cooked poultry products for food service, convenience stores, food manufacturers, retailers and distributors throughout Asia, Europe and North America.

“This investment enhances Cargill’s ability to continue to provide our customers with the highest-quality products and services,” said Prasit Maekwatana, president of Cargill Thailand. “Our customers work each day to meet the changing demands of consumers around the world, and this investment reflects our commitment to help them succeed.”

This latest projects follows a major $110 million expansion of Cargill’s poultry plant in Korat, Thailand. The facilities have combined annual production capacity of 80,000 metric tons of poultry. Both plants are fully integrated with breeder facilities, hatcheries, feed mills, pullet and grow-out farms, processing and product-development facilities.

Cargill has been operating in Thailand since 1968 and currently employs about 12,000 workers across 10 locations.
