JBS completes acquisition of Independencia

SÃO PAULO, Brazil – JBS S.A., the world's largest protein company, announced the company has completed its acquisition of Independencia International's assets.

The acquisition includes four beef processing plants in Nova Andradina, Campo Grande, Senador Canedo and rolim de Moura; two hide-processing facilities and two storage and distribution centers in Cajamar and Santos.

JBS paid for the facilities through the transfer of 22,987,331 common shares of the company's stock. The company's board of directors approved the transaction on Jan. 30.
