Former Cargill CFO to lead Seara Foods

SÃO PAULO, Brazil – Sergio Rial was named chief executive officer of Marfrig Group's Seara Foods Business Division, the company announced Nov. 7. Rial recently resigned his position as chief financial officer of Cargill.

Rial will serve as CEO of the Seara Foods Business Division, responsible for the division consolidation into a single company which he will lead as executive president. Seara Foods is the processed food division of the Marfrig Group and includes Seara Brasil, Keystone Foods and MoyPark, the company said.

Marfrig also plans to form a Chief Executive Officer's Committee composed only of Marfrig executive officers, which will advise the CEO of Marfrig primarily about financial and strategic company management, relations with financial institutions and ratings agencies, general management support, budget preparation and control. Rial will chair the committee, according to the company.

Rial led Cargill’s group of food businesses since 2004 and Cargill’s financial services businesses since 2009. He was elected to the Cargill board of directors in 2010 and elected chief financial officer in 2011.
