KFC first US chain in East Africa

NAIROBI, Kenya – KFC has recently opened its first restaurant in East Africa, according to The Associated Press, and in doing so it is the first American fast-food outlet in East Africa's most developed economy. There are indications its move could lead to a rush of other US chains into East Africa.
Concern over the supply chain is the major reason neither McDonald’s or Burger Kings are found in Nairobi, AP relays. KFC investors worked with a Kenyan chicken supplier for more than a year to meet the quality-control standards demanded by KFC's parent company.
Opening on Aug. 11, some locals waited in line up to 90 minutes to place their orders.
