MilliporeSigma's Food Safety Studio
MilliporeSigma aims to foster innovation and collaboration in food safety testing.
BILLERICA, Mass. – MilliporeSigma, the life sciences business of Darmstadt, Germany-based Merck KGaA, has opened a new food safety studio in Bellevue, Washington.

The center is intended to be a place where manufacturers of all types of food can join Merck KGaA scientists to develop products for rapid detection of foodborne pathogens. The new 5,300-sq.-ft. center features a complete food safety workflow, including raw materials and finished product safety testing, with the goal of finding, correcting and preventing contamination hazards within the food supply chain, according to MilliporeSigma.

The studio also includes a Food Safety Demonstration Center with a classroom and demonstration lab.

“The opening of MilliporeSigma's Food Safety Studio demonstrates our commitment to ensuring the safety of the global food supply,” said Jean-Charles Wirth, head of the Applied Solutions business unit at MilliporeSigma. “With this investment, we are bringing teams together in a workspace designed to foster open innovation and collaboration with the goal of becoming the leader in food safety testing.”
